Biscuits

I've tried a lot of "perfect recipe's" for biscuits and they all seem to be perfect at lower elevations or have ingredients that I don't keep on hand at all times. So, if you live in the mountains and don't have sour cream around all the time try these out.

4 Cups Flour (I either do all white flour or half wheat and half white)
1/8 Cup Sugar
5 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsp Salt
1/2 Cup Crisco Shortening (it's gotta be Crisco)
1/2 Cup softened Butter
1 3/4 Cups Milk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add butter and shortening. Cut in with a pastry blender(or use two table knives and cut criss cross) until crumbly. Add Milk and mix until dough leaves sides of the bowl. Knead dough 10-12 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thick and cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
